For many years between the two wars Mr. and Mrs. Tom Jennings ran a small grocers and sweet shop on the premises now owned by Penbode, the Vet.

For a time in the 1930's the house next to the inn was a petrol station

The Old Cafe

The house on the corner leading to Lower Village was at times a shoemaker's shop (Mr. Sanguin), a tailor's shop (Mr. L. Trewin), a fish and chip shop (Mr. Bond) and a tea room (various owners). Until recently it was a tea room run by Shirley-Ann Cobb.

Mr. A. Oke

Mr. A. Oke for some years operated a coach and haulage business, next to the Hotel.
